English Toy Spaniel Daphne2
Homecoming for "Winston &
Churchill," April 2006!
In March '06, we found ourselves fortunate to work with Toni Webb to
match
up 2 English Toy Spaniels she was fostering after they were liberated
from the horrible Missouri Puppy Mills. Despite their sad
beginnings, these two boys retained the loving nature of ETS and bravely
faced their new unknown life outside the Mill.
How were they to know what wonders awaited them in Napa, California!
I'd been contacted by Renee & Ron who were looking
for a rescue ETS after they had lost their own special Blenheim boy they
had found on the road in Napa and treasured for 2 years that they all
lived together!
Toni desribed the two Boys she had at that time as incredibly sweet for
all their awful years in the mills - the result of that was still
very apparent in the condition of their coats if not their hearts!
Renee & Ron sent Toni their application and our
club President Bill Abbott made the
required home visit, which he desribed as ETS/Dog Heaven!
After they were approved by Toni, the great homecoming was arranged!
Although Renee & Ron were more than willing to drive to Georgia to pick
the Boys up,
it turned out Toni would be able to put them on a plane from Texas - a
short trip to Napa for these 2 guys!
Winston, a tricolour boy is 5yrs old and Churchill, a blenheim boy,
is also 5yrs old - they had hit their jackpot to be
adopted together into this loving home!
Doggie Update from Napa - May 17, 2006!
"Just a short note to tell you how happy we all are. The Boys have adjusted
rapidly to their new home, almost from the time they got out of the crate at
the airport, they seemed to know that they were in good hands. We walked
them around a bit before leaving the airport, got in their crate in
the car and they were
asleep most of the way home. When we arrived at our home, they checked out
every nook and cranny (not kidding) and decided right away that the couch
was home base. We have two doggy beds in the family room, but they still
like sleeping together, all snuggled up. They have both put on some weight
and look really good. Their coats are now beginning to get long and full.
Churchill has really started to get assertive, "demanding" attention and now
rolls over on his back waiting to get his tummy rubbed. Winston did that
about a week after he arrived. When we come home they get as excited as we
are to see them.
As of June 30th the latest sleeping arrangment is they've now moved into
our bedroom - into our bed to be exact! We couldn't be happier!"
A true happy ending and a humble tribute to the loving nature of our
English Toy Spaniels!
