Parking and Transportation for TTX3
The Third International TinyOS Technology Exchange is being held
in Fairchild Auditorium on the Stanford University campus. Fairchild
is located near the medical school, on the western side of campus
(grid square E6 on this very large map).
Fairchild is very accessible through public transportation. There will
be a limited number of parking permits for a nearby lot. Metered
parking (if the permits run out) on the campus costs approximately $10 a day.
Public Transit
Stanford has a free shuttle, the
Marguerite.
You do not need Stanford ID to ride it. This
map
shows that lines A, B, VA, and C all pass close to Fairchild. You want to get off at the Stanford Medical Center and walk to Fairchild from there. If you are taking Caltrain or
are staying at the Palo Alto Sheraton (which is next to the station), then you
want to take the A line from the station and get off at the second Medical Center
stop. If you are staying in downtown Palo Alto, then the Caltrain station is a
short (5 minute) walk away.
Parking
Parking on Stanford campus is difficult. We will have a limited number of
parking permits that we will give out on a first-come, first-served basis.
These permits are for the top floor and TOP FLOOR ONLY of Parking Structure
5, which is in grid square E3 on this very large map. This is a ten minute walk from
Fairchild. If you need a parking permit, then you should briefly stop in the
lot just outside Fairchild, come in to get a permit, and then continue
on to Parking Structure 5.
Taxi
If you are taking a taxi, then the easiest way to get to Fairchild is to
ask to be taken to the Stanford Hospital (not the Children's Hospital).
Fairchild is a two minute walk from the Emergency Room entrance.
